The Sunlu AMS Heater is a drop-in heated cover upgrade for the Bambu Lab AMS (1st generation) that lets you dry your filament and print at the same time; no more pre-drying delays before every job.

Will it fit my AMS?

Fits

  • The original Bambu Lab AMS (1st generation), the closed 4-spool AMS made for the X1 and P1 series. The heater replaces its top lid.
  • Stacked original AMS units: 16-color printing keeps working after the upgrade.

Not for

  • AMS Lite, the open AMS used with the A1, A1 mini and A2L.
  • AMS 2 Pro. It already dries filament on its own, up to 65 °C.
  • AMS HT. It holds a single spool and already dries up to 85 °C.
  • Multi-color systems from other brands.

How to tell you have a 1st-generation AMS

  • It has a closed lid over 4 spools. The AMS Lite has no lid.
  • It has no power socket of its own and runs on the cable from the printer. An AMS 2 Pro has a separate power connector for its adapter, and an AMS HT has its own power cord.
  • It cannot dry filament. The AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT have built-in drying.
  • Many X1 and P1 Combos came with it, but Bambu Lab also sold X1C and P1S Combos with the AMS 2 Pro, so check the unit itself.

  • Print & dry simultaneously - replaces the AMS top cover with a heated version, drying filament inside the AMS enclosure during active printing without interrupting your workflow.
  • Rapid heating - reaches 70°C in under 20 minutes. Dual airflow design circulates heat evenly around the filament spools, preventing localized overheating.
  • Unique air duct design - directs heat precisely around the filament area while shielding the AMS feeding motor from high temperatures.
  • Smart rH humidity monitoring - automatically heats when humidity exceeds 50% rH and stops when it drops to 20% rH. Adjustable threshold range: 25%–50%.
  • Flexible scheduling - set drying time from 0 to 99 hours. Default cycle: 6 hours. Device continues monitoring humidity after countdown in rH mode.
  • 16-color stacked printing support - fully compatible with stacked AMS setups; maintains AMS Gen 1 seal strip and seal preservation function.
  • 2-minute installation - loosen, disassemble, tighten: the heater replaces the AMS top cover.
  • Safe & reliable - PTC heating element with dual-level thermal protection. Software-based temperature control with real-time monitoring. Alarms trigger if temperature overshoots by 10°C, fails to rise, or if the fan malfunctions.

rH Mode - Smart Humidity Control

In rH mode the display stays on after the timer ends. The heater activates automatically when humidity rises above your set threshold (25%–50%, default 50%) and shuts off when humidity drops to 20%. Default heating temperature in rH mode: 55°C (adjustable and saved).
